The 766th USAF Band, known in "Operations Happiness," as the Flying Band is probably the flyingest band in the USAF Air Force.

During the year 1948 each member of this organization, compiled enough flying hours to comply with AF Regulation 60-2. Public appearances, tours, and special events throughout the United States have featured the Flying Band.

The late CWO John J. Brice was responsible for the collection, training, and organization of the 766th USAF Band. The best of cooperation in this venture was given him by Lieutenant General Elwood R. Quesda, [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] and Colonel Benjamin O. Davis Jr., presently commanding Lockbourne Air Force Base.

One of the most outstanding features about the band is the fact that it may present the most serious type of classical concert one afternoon and the same evening blast off stage most any of the big named swing or be-bop combinations in a (battle of swing). Another significant feature is that the band possesses three outstanding composers and arrangers, WO Jr. Grade Vernon E. Proctor, Sergeant Arthur H. Wiggins and T/4 Arthur Baskerville.
