"OPERATION HAPPINESS"
LED BY "GREEN CARD" PILOT

MC-ing the United states Air Force's spectacular "Operations Happiness," through the wind and weather of audience moods is Lieutenant Daniel James of Pensacola, Florida, a crack "green card" pilot, stationed at Lockbourne Air Force Base, Columbus, Ohio. 

A dynamic stage-master, "Chappie," as he is known familiarly, is a towering 6 foot 4 inch, 230 pounder. He has, at this time, logged more than 3,000 hours of flying time in fighter and bomber aircraft and holds a Green Card certifying that he meets the United States Air Force's rigid standards for flying under weather conditions. Enthusiastic revuers have hailed the MC pilot of the All Airman's Show as a near-professional sensation. 

A college student turned AAF football star, turned pilot, Lt. James won his commission and his wings as a fighter pilot in July 1943. Since that time he has served with the 332d Fighter Group and with the 447th Bombardment Group. 

Under "Chappie's" guiding hand, the eighty-five member cast of the All Airman "Operation Happiness" first post-war entertainment venture of the USAF, goes through its paces in a one hour and fifteen minute parade of talent, that ranges the scale from magic to melody. 

Fourteen performances before six delighted airbase communities have won plaudit after plaudit for the show and for its master of ceremonies. Lt. James, who takes special pleasure in his task of delighting audiences, nonetheless looks forward to the day when the show will end its road tour and he can return to the 332d Fighter Group and do "some serious flying."
