Abe long ago discovered that his destiny was to go after the millions to be made from tourism, and added to the millions his organization has already made from drygoods trading.  When he bought Myrtle Bank from United Fruit Co. in March, 1944, for £35,000 he made the first trial step after big tourist money.

Reportedly, he had gone after Constant Spring Hotel, was quite sure it  | was in the bag.  But the school-keeping Franciscan Sisters, with ex-Governor Sir Arthur (now Lord Milverton) Richards leaning heavily on their side, had nosed him out at £40,000.  He could have had a Montego Bay Hotel if he wanted.  But Abe is mighty choosy when it comes to investing in futures.

[[bold]] Apprentice Shop. [[/bold]] Having used Myrtle Bank as his apprentice shop, he lifted the best hotel ideas of East and West, threw in some super-duper ones of his own, plus the architectural genius of Majorca-born B. Vicens Oliver, 37.  Then he called in Tad to melt the whole down to an 80-bedroom luxury plant on 10 acres of seashore land strategically situated near Fern Gully, scenic wonderland gateway to the north coast.

Tower Isle (named from Tower Hill in the background) is by far the greatest single project ever undertaken in Jamaica by government or private financing.  (A smart government would
