• MCC team visited the W.I.;  opened the touring series at Bridgetown, Barbados;  found W.I team a tough nut;  left in March with their prestige dented (9 matches drawn;  1 abandoned;  2 lost).

FEBRUARY:  Guatemala renewed her 89-yr.-old claim on Belize.  War clouds hung ominously over the city as reports disclosed Guatemala's plan of bloodless capture.  HMS Sheffield and Devonshire, primed for action, hastened to the troubled scene and stood by just in case.  The 'invasion' aborted.

MARCH:  Jamaica experienced terror bombing.  Jamaica Utilities White bus drivers & conductors struck for pay rise.  Neither side would give in, but in the meantime strike-breakers kept the buses moving.  To force Utilities' hands underworld technicians made crude dynamite bombs, set them off on the buses.  They killed no one but scared the daylights out of commuters.

APRIL:  Governor Huggins' 5 yr. term was extended two years.  He arrived in 1943 to watch the new constitutional
