defense against the Japs. In March, 1942, he left the United States for UK as Operations Officer of the newly formed VIII Bomber Command. He remained as Operations Officer of "Eaker's Amateurs" until February 1943, and then became Chief, Air Force Liaison Officer, to the Air Ministry. In May, 1942, the Combined Operations Planning Committee was formed and Lessig became a Charter member - working on plans for the combined U.S. British air assault on Germany. During his tour of duty in the UK, he was credited with six (6) combat missions, one, on 27 March 1942, being the first Air Force officer to fly against Germany. 

In January, 1944, he assumed duties as Chief of the Overseas Theaters and Implementation Branch of the Air Staff in Headquarters until August 1946 when he became a student in the Air War College. Upon graduation, he was assigned as Chief of the Strategy Division. In 1948, he became Chief of the Air War College Intelligence Division, a position he now occupies.  

During his military career "Brick" has attended the following schools: the Royal Air Force Staff College; the Senior Staff Officers' Course at Orlando, Florida; the Air War College, and various courses in atomic, chemical, and biological warfare. During March - June 1949, he was a member of the Air Force Atomic Warfare Briefing Team, touring Air Force installations and lecturing on Atomic Warfare. He is now destined to attend the National War College in the 1950-51 class. 
"Brick" flails at golf ball (8 handicap), does a little shooting, and has caught rainbow trout up to 10 1/2 pounds, and salmon up to 35 pounds.

As a youth "Brick" pledged himself to bachelorhood until he had reached the ripe age of 35. However, in 1937 he succumbed to the wiles and desires of a fair lass from the deep south, Shreveport, Louisiana, (fried chicken, black-eyed peas, and corn pone had something to do with it too). His wife, [[underlined]]Nee[[/underlined]] Ethelyn Graves, responds best to the name of "Honey" and from that holy bond sprang two virtuous girls - Marcia Renee, age 3, and Priscilla Lynn, age 4 months.

June was born 9 January 1911 in Virginia. After attending the U. of Richmond for 3 years, he entered USMA and graduated in the class of '34. His first assignment was to the Air Corps Flying School - Randolph and Kelly Fields. He graduated in October 1935. His first tactical assignment was with the 19th BG at March Field, California. In 1938, he was assigned to Chanute Field as a student in the Maintenance Engineering Course. Upon graduation, he was assigned to the Technical Training Command
