MILTON B. ADAMS, COLONEL,USAF,1712A

Born Eagle Pass, Texas 17 May 1917. Father was Colonel of Engineers. Educated in California and Texas, Corpus Christi being present home town. USMA 1939. Kelly Field and transfer to Air Corps with wings June 1940. Duty with 22nd Pursuit Sq., Langley Field in July 1940. Moved to Losey Field, Ponce, Puerto Rico in January 1941 with 22nd. Transferred with 22nd to Waller Field, Trinidad after Pearl Harbor. Became Commanding Officer of 22nd in April 1942 and until April 1943, returning to State and taking command of 328th Fighter Group, Hamilton Field in June 1943. Ordered to 13th Air Force, taking command of 70th Fighter Sq. in Solomon Islands in December 1943. Took command of 18th Fighter Group in July 1944. Subsequent moves took 18th to Sansapar, NEI; Morotai Island; Mindora, P.I., Lingayen, Luzon; and Zamboango, Davao Island, P.I. Flew 275 combat missions against all targets within 850 radius of action of P-38s operating from those bases. Returning to U.S. in July 1945. One and one-half years Training Command then to Iran as Air Advisor to Iranian Army until ordered to Air War College. Milt's proposed assignment will be to duty at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida. Hobbies are golf, hunting and fishing. Wife, Jean, is from the Army. Children are Mary (4), M.B., Jr. (2), and John (2 months).

PAUL C. ASHWORTH, COLONEL, USAF,1056A

Paul was born May 5, 1909, in Mattoon, Illinois, but moved to Florida in 1916 and therefore calls Belleview, Florida his home. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy in 1934 and was detailed to the Air Corps. He attended the Air Corps Flying Schools at Randolph and Kelly Fields, where he graduated in October 1935. His pre-war assignments were: 7th Bomb Group, Hamilton, Field, California, 1935-1938; 5th Bomb Group, Hickam Field, Hawaii 1938-1940; 2nd Bomb Group, Langley Field, Virginia 1940-1942. In April 1942, he was transferred to the joint Eastern Sea Frontier-Anti-Submarine Command Headquarters in New York City, where he served as Chief of Staff of the 25th A/S Wing. In August 1943, he was assigned as Chief of the Bombardment Branch in the office of the Asst. Chief of Air Staff, Training, AAF, in the Pentagon. In April 1945, he became CO of the 389th Bomb Group, which was in the process of converting from B-24's to B-29's at Tuscon, Arizona. V-J day arrived just as the group was inactivated. He was then assigned to C/S of the VIII Bomber Command at Colorado Springs, which was scheduled to join the occupation forces in Europe, but which did not survive demobilization. In 1946, he attended the 2nd Command Class at the C&GS, Ft. Leavenworth, graduating in July. In September 1946, he was assigned to USAFE in Germany, where is first duty was Air Inspector for the European Air Materiel Command.
