with Japan, he was Operations Officer of the 24th Pursuit Group at Clark Field. Returning to the States in Oct. 1942 he later assumed Command of the 355th Fighter Group and took it to England in June 1943, where he remained until Dec. 1944. After return to the States, the following assignments were forthcoming: 1945 - CO of a Fighter CTU at Abilene, Texas; 1946 - Hq, Air University; 1947 - attended Armed Forces Staff College; July 1947 - August 1948 - CO of the 20th Fighter Group at Shaw Field, S. C.; Aug 1948 - Aug 1949 - CO 3200th Proof Test Group at Eglin AFB, Fla., from which duty he reported to the AWC. His proposed assignment is Senior Air Instructor with the 68th Fighter Wing (NG) at Alameda, Calif. His wife, Donna, hails from Nebraska. One child, Bill (age 3).

CHESTER A. DAHLEN, Lt. COLONEL, USA, O-19020

"Chet" was born Sept. 4, 1910, and claims Thief River Falls, Minn. as his home. He is a graduate of USMA, Class of 1933. His first assignment as a 2d Lt. of Infantry was with the 3d Infantry, Ft. Snelling, Minn. from 1933-1936. In 1937, he graduated from the Regular Course, The Infantry School, Ft. Benning, Ga. and then served four years as an instructor at West Point in the Dept. of Chemistry and Electricity. In July 1941, he sailed for Oahu for duty with the 21st Infantry Division. He stayed with that division (21st and 34th Infantry Regiments) until July 1945, participating in the following campaigns: Pearl Harbor, Hollandia, Leyte, Luzon, and Mindanao. During this period, his principal duties were as an Inf. Bn. Cmdr. and Regtl. Commander. On return to the States, he was assigned as an instructor to the Tactical Section, The Infantry School. During 1946-47, he was a student, Regular Course, C&GSC, Ft. Leavenworth, Kan. and remained there an additional two years as an instructor until ordered to the AWC. His proposed assignment is for duty with the Research and Development Board, Office, Secretary of Defense. Chet's main hobbies are golf, gardening and photography. His wife, Ursula (Tommy) is an Army daughter, born in the Philippines. He has two daughters, Sydney Jean (age 9) and Karen Linda (age 8).

GEORGE B. DANY, COLONEL, USAF, 1061A

Stock crashlanded Little George at Samar, Philippine Islands, 17 February 1910. Army brat childhood at many different bases of operations. George is now a Texan by adoption. Graduated at West Point in 1934. Received wings year later. First assignment 19th Bomb Group, March Field, California. Trained as navigator and bombardier in addition to piloting big B-10s. Served at Randolph Field, 1937-1940, as instructor and flight commander. Established navigation school at Kelly Field and commanded Hondo AFB and Selma AFB (navigation schools) during war. Arrived Okinawa just in time to lend prestige and profile to peace treaty ceremonies. A-4, CO, Pinetree AFB, Nah AFB, and Acting C/S, 1st Air Division until 1947.
