BENJAMIN O. DAVIS, JR., COLONEL, USAF, 1206A

"Ben" was born 18 Dec. 1912 in Washington, D. C., graduated from West Point in 1936. After five years in the Infantry, including one year at The Infantry School, he was detailed in the Air Corps for pilot training and received his wings in 1942. In 1943 he commanded a fighter squadron in North Africa and Sicily, and in 1944-45 a fighter gp. with the Twelfth and Fifteenth Air Forces in Italy. He returned to the U. S. in June 1945, and assumed command of a medium bombardment group and associated units at Godman Fld., Ky. The Japanese surrender and subsequent demobilization cancelled plans for overseas movement, and after nine months at Godman, Ben moved to Lockbourne AFB, Ohio, where he commanded a fighter wing until mid 1949. He reported to Maxwell as a student, AWC, in Aug. 1949, and has received orders for duty in the Plans and Operations Division, Hq, USAF, in Washington, Ben plays at golf. His wife, Agatha, (Aggie) is from New Haven, Conn.

LEIGHTON IRA DAVIS, COLONEL, USAF, 1111A

"Lee" was born 20 Feb. 1910 at Sparta, Wisconsin. Moved to Montana at age of two years and was appointed to USMA from that state. Graduated in 1935, commissioned in the Corps of Engineers, transferred to Air Corps immediately, taking flying training at Randolph and Kelly (pursuit). First station with 18th Pursuit Op., Wheeler Field, Hawaii. Returned to States in 1938. Duty as instructor, USMA, 1939-1940. Student M.I.T. 1940-1941 (M.S. in Aero Engineering). Instructor, USMA, 1941-1943, assigned to Air Support Command in 1943 but orders changed to Air Materiel Command, Wright Field. Spent war in research and development work, was Chief of Armament Laboratory, Air Material Command, when war ended. Was Chief of new Office of Air Research when ordered to AWC. Proposed assignment, Deputy CO, AF Institute of Technology. Hobbies, golf, squash, tennis, electronic gadgets. His wife, Gertrude, (Gert), is from Lyndhurst, N. J. Children are Eva (age 14), Jenifer (age 10), and Leighton I. Jr., (Tony), (age 4).

THOMAS C. DICKENS, GROUP CAPTAIN, RAF, 16243

"Dickie" was born March 11th, 1906 in England. Received his flying badge on graduation from the RAF Cadet College in 1926. Prior to World War II served five years in the Middle East and a short period in India during the 1937 Frontier incident. Attended the RAF Aeronautical Engineering School, qualifying for such employment; also the RAF Staff College in 1938. Commanded a light bomber squadron at the outbreak of World War II, serving in France from the declaration of
