   "Johnny was born in Lynn, Mass, 7 Feb. 1905. He graduated from Norwich University (The Military College of New England) in 1927 with BS in CE and was commissioned 2Lt. Cav-Res on 1 June 1927. He engaged  in civil engineering for six years and has been in the Army actively since 1933. From 1933 to 1939 he was engaged in army administration of the CCC at Fort Ethan Allen, Vt. and at Hq. First Corps Area at Boston. During the early pre-war expansion of the Army he was on the Corps Area staff and early in 1941 he was transferred to the 2nd Armored Division then at Fort Benning Ga., where he was successively an armored reconnaissance company commander, Battalion S-3, and Battalion executive of 82nd Armored Reconnaissance Battalion. He remained with 2nd Armored Division throughout the war, going overseas as Executive, 67th Armored Regiment and participating in the landings in French Morocco on Nov. 8, 1942. As Executive, Combat Command "B" he engaged in the Sicilian Campaign in 1943. He went to England in October 1943 with the advance party  of the division. In the 1944-45 operations in Europe he took part in the Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe Campaigns, as Combat Command Executive Division G-3 and in April took command of 67th Armored Regiment. His return to the States was on 30 January 1946. Johnny remained with the Division during its post war reorganization at Camp Hood, Texas leaving to attend the first post-war class at the Command and General Staff College at Ft. Leavenworth. On graduation from Leavenworth in 1947, he was assigned to Hq, Army Ground Forces (later Officer of Chief of Army Field Forces) at Fort Monroe, Virginia, where he was engaged in the design and modernization of T/O&Es of armored units in G-3 Section. In December of 1948 he was transferred to the Pentagon for duty with the Research and Development Board, OSRD, where he remained until reporting to the AWC. Johnny's next assignment is Commandant of Cadets, Norwich University, Northfield, Vermont. Johnny enjoys a dabble in photography and painting. He also finds hiking good sport. His wife, Helen, is from Springfield, Mass. Children are June (age 20), Barbara (age 18), and Helen (age 12).

WILLIAM RICHARD KANE, COMMANDER, USN, 72314

"Bill" was born 4 June 1911 in San Rafael, Calif. where he resided until 1929 when he was appointed a misshipman at the US Naval Academy. Graduating in 1933, he was assigned to the USS NEW YORK where he served for almost a year. This was followed by a year in the heavy cruiser, USS ASTORIA when ordered to flight training at Pensacola, Fla. were received. He became a Naval Aviator in 1936 and was assigned to VB-5, a dive bombing squadron attached to the USS LEXINGTON. From 1937 to 1938 he was attached to VF-2 of the LEXINGTON Ari Group. From 1939-1940 he was the senior aviator of the aviation unit attached to the heavy cruiser, USS WICHITA. In 1940 he went to NAS Ford Island, Oahu, T. H. for shore duty where he was at the time Pearl Harbor was attacked on December 7, 1941. In October of 1942 he joined VF-10 of Air Group 10, attached to the USS ENTERPRISE and proceeded to the South Pacific with them, fighting through the battles of the Santa Cruz Islands and Guadalcanal.
