CURTIS R. LOW, COLONEL, USAF, 1349A

"Curt" was born on 2 August 1912 and claims Needham Heights, Massachusetts, as his home. After completing Needham High, he spent a year with the Massachusetts National Guard as a cavalry private in order to secure an appointment to West Point. Upon graduation in 1937, he attended flying school and graduated from Kelly in the fall of 1938. An assignment to March Field in the 17th Attach Group started him off in the Air Force. Later, as squadron commander at McChord Field, he was alerted with a flight of B-23s to bomb the Jap fleet approaching the West Coast in December 1941. Of course, bombsights were not available for the unit at the time. That was his first wartime assignment. Later as Operations and Executive Officer of the 12th Bomb Group (M), he was clean-up man in the group- move across the South Atlantic to Egypt where they were assigned to the Desert Air Force. In early 1943, he was transferred to North Africa as a deputy wing commander and subsequently to Washington, where he finished the war. In 1946 he was assigned to the Air Command and Staff School where he remained until matriculation at the Air War College in August 1949. His proposed assignment upon graduation is CO 35th Fighter Wing, FEAF, Japan. Barly, his wife was born in Colgany, Alberta, but now claims Yarmouth, Me., as her home. Curtis (Not junior was born at Ft. Sam Houston on 24 October 1938, and David also a 24 October 1942, in Portland. 

MORTON D. MAGOFFIN, COLONEL, USAF, 1367A

"Mort" was born Feb. 1., 1916 at Deerwood, Minnesota, still his home state. He was graduated from USMA in 1937 and subsequently received his wings at Kelly Field in Oct. 1938. After two and one-half years in pursuit flying and administrative duties at Selfridge Field, Mich., he served at Wheeler Field, T. H. until the outbreak of the war. Thereafter, he served on the staffs of the Hawaiian Fighter Command and the III Fighter Command (Florida) until early 1943, when he received a new Thunderbolt Group in the First Air Force. In the 1943 he reported to the 9th AF in England with his group trained for a combat assignment. On his 85th combat mission, Mort was shot down, seriously wounded and captured, only to escape for recuperation in general hospital in England. He returned to the ZI to serve in the Training Command in California, then in North Carolina, then on the Joint Alaskan Command Staff. Lastly, he led the war-famous 57th Fighter Group in Alaska before reporting to the AWC. He is to be assigned to the Plans Branch in Hq, USAF. Mort lives, eats and sleeps on out-door life of hunting and fishing with a little athletics and liars' dice thrown in. His roommate, June, hails from San Antonio, Texas, and his prized mischief makers are Ann (age 10) and Mary (age 6).
