his flight of B-17s to Egypt to participate in the bombardment phase of the desert campaign. When the Japs attacked Pearl Harbor and the US declared war upon the Axis Powers, he was released from the RAF and reported in to the US Military North African Mission in Cairo where he was commissioned as a Capt. in the USAC. There he was progressively a supply officer, an executive, and engineering officer, and the natural officer for the Air Section of Mission. He was promoted to Major in June 1942.In Nov. 1942, he went to Moscow as aid and Asst. to the Cheif of the American section of an Anglo-American Mission. He returned to Cairo in Jan. 1943 and in Feb. he was made A-3 of the Ninth AF Service Command and promoted to Lt. COl. In Oct. 1943, he went to the U.K. where he became deputy CO of 2nd Advanced Air Depot Area, the Service Command which supported the fighters of the Ninth AF throughout the European campaign. He was promoted to Colonel in Feb. 1944. In March 1945, he was transferred to duty as Deputy in CO of the 1st Tactical AF Service Command, which position he held until August 1945 when he was returned to the US. In Sept. 1945, he reported for duty as Executive, Flight Operations Div., Hq. USAF. In March 1946, he was ordered to duty as Deputy for Plans and Administration, A-4, Hq. USAF, which position he held until Feb. 1948 when he went to the Munitions Board as Chief of the Survey Section and then as Asst. Director of Requirements and Military Programs, from which duty he reported to the AWC. His next assignment will e in the office of the Assistant for Programming, DCS/O, Hq. USAF. His main hobby is golf. His wife, Lisette, was born in Alexandria, Egypt, and he has one daughter, Karen Gail (age 5 months).

JAMES Y. PARKER, COLONEL, USAF, 1345A

Jimmy was born 14 July 1914 in Tyler, Texas. After one year at Tyler Junior College, entered the class of 1937, USMA. Graduated in the FieldArtillery and served two years in the 82nd Horse Artillery o the 1st Cavalry Division, Ft. bliss, Texas. Entered flying school in summer 1939 and received wings 11 May 1940. In Feb. 1941 became CO of 2nd Observation Sqdn. Clark Field, P.I. In November 1941 became Executive Officer, Nichols Field, P.I. and CO of 20th Air Base Group. On Bataan served as S-2, S-3 of 2nd Bn., Provisional Air Corps Infantry Regiment on the "orion Line" from 6 Jan 1942 to 27 Mar. 1942. Served with 4th Marines on Corregidor in Beach defense. He became a Japanese Prisoner of War on May 6 1942 when Corregidor was surrendered by Gen. Wainwright and was in P.O.W. status until 9 September 1946. After a long period of rehabilitation and hospitalization became CO of Air Force Instrument Pilot School at Barksdale, La., in Dec. 1946. In Jan. 1949, became 3500th Pilot Training Group CO from which duty reported to the AWC. Jim's hobbies are fishing, hunting and amateur movie making. His wife, Manu, if from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Children are Patricia (age 11), Nancy Jean (age 9), and Susan (age 4).
