JAMES E. STEVENS, CAPTAIN, USN, 63333

Steve was born 12 December 1906 in New York City, however, his home is Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1930. Upon graduation he was assigned to the USS Arkansas where he served for four months. He then took the short course at Navy flying school at Pensacola. After serving on the USS Raleigh for two and one-half years he attended Sub School at New London, Conn from where he graduated in 1934. From there until the war, he served in various submarines and commanded a submarine rescue vessel, USS S-35, a submarine. He commanded several submarines during the war and when the war ended he was a submarine division commander. In 1946 he was sent to the U. S. Naval Shipyard at Portsmouth, New Hampshire; from where he was ordered to the Air War College. After graduating from the Air War College, Steve will command the Submarine tender, USS Sperry. His wife, Evelyn Hubert, (Ev) hails from New York City.  Children are Jane (age 15), Patricia (age 11), James, Jr. (age 7), and Edward (age 4).  

VERNON L. STINTZI, COLONEL, USAF, 1596A

Bud was born 16 March 1915. His home town is Chester, Iowa. He attended Coe College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, graduating in 1937. Followed by a year as a flying cadet, graduating in June 1938. Three years of duty followed with various observation squadrons. In 1941 was assigned to the 17th Bomb Group and in 1942 accompanied General Doolittle in the Pacific as his engineering officer. Returned to the U. S. in 1942 and spent a year in B-25 and B-26 groups and then to North Africa, Sardinia, and Italy. Returned to the U. S. in 1944 for several months and then back overseas again to the Allied Control Commission for Bulgaria where he spent two years as an Air Officer and in charge of Russian Liaison. Returned to the U. S. in 1946 and spent a year and a half at Langley in a Jet Photo Recn. Wing, followed by the assignment to the Air War College.  His next assignment will be at Keesler Field. Among other hobbies, Bud enjoy tennis and golf. His wife, Maria, was born in Sophia, Bulgaria and they have one "Junior" (16 months).

JAMES L. TARR, COLONEL, USAF, 6060A

Jim was born in Nevada, Missouri which he still calls his home. He attended the University of Missouri from 1924 to 1929. He played professional football, worked in St. Louis, attended the University of Tennessee until 1933 when he went on active duty with the CCC in Missouri. In 1935 he was assigned as District Adjutant at Ft. Leavenworth, staying at that position until 1940
