Following the cessation of hostilities he served on the staff of the 2nd Marine Air Wing on Okinawa, and in Japan. He returned to the US in Feb. 1946 and was assigned as CO of the Marine Reserve Training Detachment at St. Louis, Mo. In January 1947 he reported to Washington, D.C. for duty as Training officer, Division of Aviation, Hqs, USMG, from which assignment he reported t othe AVW. His proposed assignment is to a fighter group at MCAS, El Toro, Calif. Doc's hobbies are golf, hunting, and fishing. His wife, Virginia, (Ginny), is from New York City. Children are Glenn, (age 13), Radford (6), and Kathleen (3).

JOHN W. WHITE, COLONEL, USAF, 1087A

"Jack" was born June 16, 1910, in Uvalde, Texas.  He attended St. Edwards University at Austin, Texas in 1928-29, and Texas A&M College in 1929 prior to entering the U. S. Military Academy in 1930.  Upon graduation from USMA in 1934, he entered flying training, receiving his wings at Kelly Fld. in Oct. 1935.  From Nov. 1935 to July 1937, he served with the 19th Bomb Gp. at March Fld., Calif.  He was a student at the Air Corps Technical School (Communications) from Sept. 1937 to June 1938.  For the next two years, he served as a flight instructor in Randolph Fld., Texas.  He was the assigned to the special bombardier school opening at Lowry Fld., Colo.  From Feb. 1941 to June 1945 he served in the capacity of Dir. of Training or CO at the Bombadier schools:  Ellington, Midland, Big Spring, Childress and Midland.  In June 1945, he was given transition training in B-29s and was assigned comdr. of the 485th Bombardment Gp. (VHB).  In May 1946, he was assigned to the U.S. Air Forces in Europe where he served in the A-3 Div. of ESAFE Hq.  With the advent of the Berlin Airlift, he became Director of Plans in the Airlift Task Force Hq. Upon returning to the States in 1949 he entered the AWC.  His proposed assignment is CO 3535th Bombardment Training Gp., Mather Fld., Calif.  Jack's hobbies are fishing, golf, and hunting.  His wife, Patsy, is from San Antonio, Tex.  Children are Jack, Jr. (age 14) and Sally (age 9).  

DOUGLAS E. WILLIAMS, COLONEL, USAF, 1285A

     "Doug" was born at Newport, Virginia August 14, 1911.  Attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute where he acquired a BS in 1932 and MS in 1933.  Having completed his college work Doug entered the Flying School in July 1933 and received his wings at Kelly Field a year later.  Upon graduating from Kelly he was assigned to the 36th Fighter Squadron at Langley Field, Virginia where he remained until 1940.  While at Langley Doug received his regular commission in 1936 and married "Buzz" Drake in January 1937.  Was transferred to Bolling Field, D.C. in 1940 with Hq, GJQ Air Force and subsequently became Assistant A-3 at Western Flying Training Command in 1941.
