After dinner the night flying group was launched, and made several landings to demonstrate the night techniques. Everyone agreed that those night flyers earn their flight pay.

The Wright group followed the same general routine as that of the Philippine Sea group. There were no submarine trips available, but about half the group did make Anti-submarine patrol flights. They all agreed that it was quite an experience but there were no volunteers for the carrier duty. Another high point of the voyage on the Wright was the launching of the drone target aircraft. There was considerable speculation as to just what would happen, but the old F-6F took off like a bird.

We were tied up to Pier 7, shortly after breakfast time, 18 May and disembarked about 0830. The planes were waiting for us at East Field and by 1 p.m. (Maxwell time) we were home again.
