December 15, 1949

Dear Mr. Block:

Very many thanks for your extremely kind letter of December 14th., and do let me say how much I appreciate your having the painting by Braque returned to me so promptly.

As disappointed as I am of course to read Mrs. Block does not care for it, being personally so keen about it, I quite understand your decision. I would be the first one to feel distressed at the thought you had purchased a painting which did not completely satisfy Mrs. Block.

As regards the Daumier paintings, I am not yet quite free, but think that by the beginning of next week I should be in a position to know more.

Before closing may I say anew how much I enjoyed having your visit, and with my best wishes for the holiday season,

Sincerely yours,
(Germain Seligman)
