Dear Mrs. Brewster:

How glad I am to read that you liked the Gin, and I hope therefore, that you will be able to secure it in Chicago, which off-hand should be easy, as I don't see any reason why New York should have the monopoly on Mexican imports.

I would like to resume now, the business conversation we started when I had the pleasure of seeing you in Chicago, as I told you, I would be very glad to purchase your small BONNARD painting, and I am wondering whether you would be good enough to tell me what valued you put on it...and do you know the date of it? I believe that it must represent a southern harbor scene?

On the other hand, you would be interested in parting with the DERAIN "Woman's Head", and in view of this I would like to make another suggestion, which would be to purchase, as a group, the DERAIN, BONNARD, BRAQUE, VUILLARD and the little boy's head by REDON. If we could agree upon this, I could perhaps "spread" part of the value you probably have in mind for the Derain, on the other paintings and pastel.

I remember that you are attached to the VUILLARD, BRAQUE and REDON, but they are, after all, small examples, and if you sold them you would probably be able to purchase one important painting in keeping with your great VAN GOGH, CEZANNE, MANET, etc.
