Dear Mr. Brewster:

It is with considerable hesitation that I am writing you, as the purpose of this note refers to your collection, and I know so well how much it has always meant to you.

However, having just heard rumors of certain dispositions you were contemplating as regards the disposal of some of the paintings, and should these be correct, I do hope you will not mind my writing on this topic.

The painting I am particularly anxious to inquire about is the blue Picasso "Woman with a Helmet of Hair", and may I ask whether you would consider parting with it, but there are, of course, so many other important and lovely paintings which I remember well, in which I would also be interested.

Were you to entertain any such thoughts, and be willing to consider selling one or the other or several of your pictures, I would not hesitate to go to Chicago to call on you, which, aside from anything else, would give me much pleasure.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Yours very sincerely,

(Germain Séligman)
