I. [[underlined]]WHY EDUCATION IS CRITICAL TODAY[[/underlined]]

Education is basic for full participation in both the life and opportunities of our democracy.

II. [[underlined]]IMPORTANT FACTS[[/underlined]]

a) [[underlined]]Schools and Institutions for Learning[[/underlined]]

Educational standards will be higher as emphasis increases on training for gifted children and for those with special talents in mathematics and science.

More awards and scholarships from government and private sources will be available to high school and college students.

Statistical studies and surveys are now being made by several states and will increase. We must expect to face unpleasant facts and conditions relating to students from crowded areas and minority backgrounds. There is need for volunteer organization programs to deal with some of the causes of these problems.

There will be increased emphasis upon substandard conditions in public education and a demand for tightening of teacher standards upgrading of the teacher's place in society; and an increased demand for better equipped school facilities.
