Excellency:
The Association of Portuguese Civil Engineers beg to congratulate you on the legitimate triumph obtained by the heroic aviator, Lieutenant read, who, with his brace companions terminated the discovery of the air route from North America to Europe.

This Association, representing Portuguese Engineering , expresses to Your Excellency the highest admiration for the gigantic impulse given to aviation by the North American Engineering, thus obtaining a lasting triumph which will endure in the world's history.

We have the honor to beg Your Excellency to transmit our congratulations to His Excellency the President of the United States of America, to the American Government, to Admiral E. P. Plunket, to Lieutenant Read and his companions of the airship.
