Sept. 11th Pursued enemy across Ourcq.

Sept. 12th So much opposition encountered that opinion is formed enemy had arrested his retreat.

Germans driven back over river at Soissons. They destroyed bridges. 6th Army meeting strong opposition. Cavalry under Allenby reach Braine.

By nightfall of the 13th the British had crossed the Aisne almost along the whole line Soisson Bazoches. Germans are established on high ground ^[[2 miles north of river Chemin-des-Dames]]  The bridge at Condé was the only bridge not destroyed and remained in the enemy's hands till the end of the battle. The Germans were found to have established themselves on the Tregny plateau.

14th  8 pontoon bridges & 1 foot bridge were thrown across river. Gen. French determined to find out if the enemy was taking a stand. Ordered general advance. Haigs bold actions gained a position which enabled French to maintain his position on the north side of the river.

15th Determined that enemy was making determined stand

17th, 18th, 19th English heavily bombarded

20th Enemy again attack vigorously.

23d  4 6-inch howitzer arrive.
