2. We were going via Amiens - this means we would go through Chantilly which was the place the Germans got to nearest Paris 35K.

Just now in going through the blotter I had on the steamer I found a note from you, written one of the first days at sea. It is the nicest note I have ever read it says: Dear Mrs Whitney, If you are coming out bye & bye, to sit, to walk, to read or to think it is right ^[[that [[?]]responded]] I can't bear the thought of many [[strikethrough]] simple [[/strikethrough]] things I will have to stand tonight. I only want you and am lonely beyond words and dreary. [[strikethrough]] unto death [[/strikethrough]]. Are you thinking of me, do you love me still, what picture have you now. It is hard to be courageous sometimes, hard to kept hold of the handlebars, but I will do it for you dear, I will do [[strikethrough]] all things [[/strikethrough]] ^[[any old thing]] for you [[strikethrough]] [[from my heart there has sprung a great love [[/strikethrough]]. You know why,
They say we shall never get in - Its a little bit better today. [[strikethrough]] so [[/strikethrough]] I got up and walked and talked to all kinds of tiresome people. T.
Do nothing mayn't I come to do it too, at any time you say. I am very lonely.
