With a directness and insight that can come only from men who have lived and fought a war, they have made fun of the peculiarities of the military system and the foibles of first sergeants and generals. The artists have been truck drivers in supply units, riflemen in forward bunkers, navigators on B-29s, and radarmen on destroyers.

Other artists have commented on the bewildered and enthusiastically curious young American who suddenly finds himself surrounded by a rich Oriental culture. Chopsticks, girl-sans and honeybuckets received full attention. And to their great credit, the cartoonists in Korea and other parts of the Far East Command have laughed at their own weaknesses and prejudices.

Their work is testimony to the best in American tradition and to the courage and strength of the free men of 21 nations who joined to fight for their freedom.

The editors are proud to present this collection of the best cartoons printed in the Pacific Stars and Stripes and are grateful to all the artists who have contributed so much to the newspaper.
