WIN FIRST STARS—Brig. Gen. Benjamin O. Davis Jr. (Left), FEAF director of operations and training, and Brig. Gen. Arthur J. Pierce, FEAF chief of staff, Wednesday were promoted by directive of President Dwight D. Eisenhower from colonel to brigadier general. Davis flew 60 combat missions in World War II, and prior to his present assignment was commander of the 51st Fighter-Interceptor Wg. in Korea. Pierce, who led the first B-24 raid on Berlin in World War II, was on the faculty of the National War College before assuming his present duties. (USAF Photo)
