Dear General Davis:

Just finished reading my current issue of the Air Force Times and noted with a great deal of pleasure that you now have the coveted "Star". The pride and realization of accomplishment is, I know, probably the greatest experience you've enjoyed thus far in your career. In expressing my personal pleasure in your recognition, I can only regretfully add that it should have happened at the K-site.

I'm now at the Pentagon in the Special Actions Branch of personnel (PMP-2B) and enjoy it thoroughly. The reunion with Margaret and my six year old imp, Nancy, was all the wonderful sensations each of us anticipated during the long wait. I've since learned you were fortunate in bringing Mrs. Davis to Japan so I know how proud she must be in sharing your promotion.

Well, Sir, of all the unquestionably able officers on the promotion list, I personally know that recognition by the Air Force of your ability is fully merited and is indicative of an active fruitful future.

I can imagine no future assignment for myself that would afford me as much pleasure in the Service as an assignment to your command again.

My sincerest congratulations and best wishes,
