Dear Ben and Aggie:

We were very pleased to hear over the radio last night that the President had nominated you for Brigadier General. I want to take this opportunity to congratulate you on your appointment as Brigadier General. Carmen was as pleased as I was to hear of this appointment. Of all those nominated for Brigadier General I know that you are the most deserving and entitled to the same due to your ability as an officer in the Air Force. During all of my service in the Air Force including the time during World War II, I never enjoyed working for a person more than I did for you, not only did I enjoy working for you but I always had great respect for your ability as an officer. I just wish that the Air Force had more officers of your ability.

We were also pleased to receive the card a few days ago. We hope by now that you have permanent government quarters, ^[[a place]] without heat at this time of the year does not sound good.

We certainly have been enjoying our home since returning to Syracuse. We took a short vacation leaving here a week ago Saturday for Colorado Springs. The next day I became ill and spent a few days in the hospital with virus pneumonia. As soon as I was able to travel we returned home.

We do hope that when you do return to the States you will find occasion to pass through Syracuse and spend some time with us.

Again I want to extend my congratulations on your appointment as Brigadier General in the United States Air Force.

Yours sincerely,
