Dear Aggie & Ben:

We were really delighted to read the enclosed notice in the Omaha paper----congratulations and just lots of good luck. No one ever deserved the promotion more than Ben.

We enjoyed getting you nice card from Japan and we sure are glad you can be over there with Ben, Aggie.

Things aren't just so jolly out our way. Otto was talked into running for a third term as County Attorney, against his better judgment, and he was defeated in the primary on August 10th. The only thing that was hurt was his pride but it really did hurt because he has done a real good job. The new County Attorney will take over January 1st. It really is an awful good thing that he will be out of this office because they have just been working him to death.

We took off from Lincoln, Nebraska, on October 16th for a few days vacation in Colorado Springs with my Mother---got as far as Scottsbluff and Otto developed a high fever---we went on and finally he ended up in Glockner Hospital in the Springs with virus pneumonia!!! He was in the hospital four days and then had to take it easy a few more days before we could try the trip home but we finally made it. He is recovering but will probably be a weak, puny little thing for quite a few weeks yet. It's the first time he has been ill since he had malaria in Africa 11 years ago.

When do you think you will be returning Stateside?? Be sure to plan your itinerary to include as much time as you can spare in Nebraska, namely, Syracuse, Nebraska. We would love to have you as guest in our home for as long as you can make it. It would certainly make a nice QUIET vacation for you since this is a powerfully quiet community----it's so quiet a person would almost think it was dead!

Colorado Springs is really a booming place since the Air Force has decided to put their Air Academy there. Real estate is worth twice what it was a year or so ago and the population is increasing with leaps and bounds. Sure is a beautiful little city and we would both love to live there.

Please write when you find time and tell me all the interesting things you are doing over there. Do they dance the Mambo in Japan????

Let me hear from you.

Very sincerely,
