Dear Sir:

I am honored to invite you to address our senior class as guest speaker during our assembly observance of Negro History Week, February 13 - 20, 1955.

Our 1100 children represent most interracial and interfaith origins. They live in a severely underprivileged area where the school is almost the only democratic symbol of equality, opportunity, and freedom. Here particularly we try to commemorate Negro History Week by bringing our students into first-hand contact with an outstanding American who represents these aspirations.

I am aware of the demand of all kinds which no doubt are made upon you. However, if you could find the time to visit us for one hour any day of the week mentioned that is convenient to you between 9 and 3, we would be profoundly privileged.

Sincerely yours,
