Brigadier General B. O. Davis
Far Eastern Air Command
Tokyo, Japan

My Dear General Davis:

Please accept my warmest congratulations on your promotion to Brigadier General. I have looked forward to that promotion almost as eagerly as you have. When I read of it it gave me great satisfaction and pleasure.

Having had the opportunity of serving under your command I wanted you to know that in my humble opinion you are certainly worthy and to me you represent a standard of manhood, character and ability that others will strive to meet.

You will recall that when I was in Washington I told you that there were better days ahead and at long last, it seems that we are reaching a point where ability, integrity, and efficiency pays off.

Again, let me congratulate you and I hope that your second star will be pinned on your shoulder in the near future. If you ever have the opportunity, to drop out of the sky and lans in Kansas where I can entertain you while you breathe some good Kansas air, be sure and do so.

Sincerely yours,
