Brig. Gen. Benjamin O. Davis, 1206A
Operations & Training, FEAF
APO 323
San Francisco, California

Dear General Davis:

I was exceptionally proud and happy when I heard over the radio and read in the press the good news of your promotion to the rank of brigadier general.

Please accept this humble letter as my personal expression of sincere congratulations to you for your great achievement.

Perhaps you may have forgotten my name, but I served as one of the early chaplains to your old group of World War II fame, the 332nd Fighter Group. All of us then were stationed at Tuskegee Army Air Base.

You and Mrs. Davis visited this city, Little Rock, a few years ago when you both were en route to Mexico for a short vacation. At that time you spent the night with Mr. & Mrs. Gilkey, the parents of Col. & Mrs. Marchbanks. I believe that I assisted them in the entertaining of you both.

Again, I congratulate you and wish the best or you and your fine wife.

Sincerely yours,
