[[preprinted]] HEADQUARTERS CIVIL AIR PATROL UNITED STATES AIR FORCE BOLLING AIR FORCE BASE, WASHINGTON 25, D. C. [[/preprinted]] 19 November 1954 Brig Gen Benjamin O. Davis, USAF 1206A Director of Operations and Training FEAF APO 323 c/o Postmaster San Francisco, California Dear Ben: I would like to add my sincere congratulations to the great many which you have already received. It was my good fortune to observe the telecast news coverage of the event. The announcement as well as seeing you on the telecast gave me a great deal of personal satisfaction. Among other things, this satisfaction may be attributed to two events which perhaps have gone unnoticed by yourself. You will recall at the Air War College, you had as a Seminar assignment the critique of Logistics. The remarks which you made with respect to cooperation, planning and command responsibility with respect to logistics will forever remain in my memory. Secondly, Ben, I'll never forget your cooperation and efforts when I went along as a Materiel representative with the Operations personnel in the Ninth Air Force bases visit. You consciously or otherwise insured that I, as a Materiel representative, got the names of the Ninth personnel at each place we visited. It is a small thing to mention but a very much appreciated one. It is my sincere hope and wish that you will excel the outstanding record of your father during your career with the Air Force. My sincere congratulations and best wishes to you and yours on the occasion of the promotion and for the forthcoming holiday season. Sincerely, [[signature]] Alfred Hutcheson [[/signature]] ALFRED L.
