Dear B. O.:

This message of congratulations is somewhat belated because I only learned of your address today but it is nevertheless sincerely offered. That "star" is richly deserved and I am very happy to hear that it has been pinned on.

Having been with you that day at Posilipo when you pinned on your "eagle", the news of your recent promotion stirred fond memories. It is a source of pride for all of us that you have steadily progressed up the ladder.

Meanwhile, if you come to Europe at any time be sure and get in touch with us. I am still serving in the foreign service as an information officer here. From time to time members of the old gang show up in these parts and I expect you will come this way at some time. We would be glad to see you. Hope you and your wife had a splendid Christmas. Theora joins me in wishing you the very best.

Sincerely,
