Can you imagine it? The announcement came with the marriage invitation which, for some reason, has not reached us here, although Edward and Ethel got theirs, and, as it is a big church wedding, I fancy our omission was a mistake. He is going to be married on the 21st, and we have decided all together to give him a present as the nicest way of doing it.

On Saturday evening was the great suffrage parade, and it was very effective, really beautiful, for every person carried a big yellow Japanese lantern on a long stick. It was very picturesque and stunning! The march took two hours, so there were many people in line. It varied from 15,000 to 20,000, and there were crowds and crowds upon the streets watching. After the parade, there were a great many speeches down in Union Square, and the Wage Earners' League had an automobile from which we spoke. We made Mrs. Wise, who is our treasurer, introduce us. She had never done so before, and did it exceedingly well. She has been quite elated ever since.

Tomorrow night is our great ball, and then, I hope, we will be able to settle down to business. There is a great deal to be done.

How long are you going to stay in Florence?
With a great deal of love, ^[[dear]],
