the thought of the significance of free speech and free discussion that I am sure I must have spoken under the inspiration of that thought. No people need ever fear anything if free discussion is guaranteed. I wish I could tell you of the group of splendid women who are in the struggle for women suffrage in Ohio. There is no greater proof of the importance of that question to be found than in the fact that the leading, most intelligent and finest spirited women of every city are in the struggle for woman suffrage. For the last three months these women have been speaking to thousands and thousands of men and women on the streets, in the parks, at picnics, in churches and lecture halls. They are able to answer questions on taxation, the tariff, the question of courts, initiative, referendum and recall and other similar issues that are now engaging the thought of the American people. After speaking to the plumbers that night, I went with a delegation of 75 Cleveland women to Columbus where 4000 of us marched in another great parade. Women were present from Massachusetts to San Francisco, and they were a stunning sight to behold. In the afternoon we spoke to nearly 4000 people as the Columbus Centennial celebration was on, and again were asked questions that challenged both our intelligence and our knowledge. What a training it all is!

I got home yesterday and I am now trying to get my Illinois work started as I am a member of the State Executive Committee.

With much, much love,
