However, the opposition of Agnes Nestor, Amy Walker and myself to this plan seems to have carried enough weight to make the other women decided to postpone action till next April. That at least will give us a chance to boost our own savings fund which we have started in the Chicago League and get our work in ahead of the Civic Federation group who are pushing this.

In the evening we had the opening of the Northwest Side Branch of the Women's Trade Union League of Chicago. A splendid crowd gathered in the very delightful rooms. Agnes Nestor made a little talk about the new center and how the dream which many of the girls had had was now actually coming true. She and Amy Walker are really responsible for getting the center for they are the ones who persuaded Mrs. Emmons Blaine to back the expenses until it got on its own feet. Just as Agnes finished and to her utter astonishment all the girls rose and burst into the following song to the tune of Mary's Lille Lamb:

Agnes Nestor had a dream,
Had a dream
Had a dream
Agnes Nestor had a dream,
Many years ago.

She wanted room to play and sing,
Play and sing
Play and sing
She wanted room to play and sing
For all trade union girls.

Then Amy Walker came to town
Came to town
Came to town
Then Amy Walker came to town
And jumped into the scheme.

Now here's the dream come true you see
Come true you see
Come true you see
Now here's the dream come true you see
Out on the Northwest Side.

Then the girls gave a great yell,
Nestor Walker
Walker Nestor
Nestor Walker
Rah! ! !
