County and the pressing necessities of some of the Freedmen I was compelled to dispense for the Bureau some of my own private funds. I surely need the return of this money at the present time. Were it not so I would not press my claims as I do. I am daily engaged in instructing the colored race as to their privilleges and duties under the military bill. I have travelled all over this section of the [[strikethrough]] County [[/strikethrough]] State in discharge of this sacred duty. My means are all expended and my family is suffering. I now respectfully ask my case to be examined and acted upon as soon as possible, in order that I may receive whatever the magnanimity and sense of justice of my government may award me in the premises.
