Dear Alfred;
In the afternoon I tried one of the horses to ride. 
He is a red-sorrel called "Glad" and he galloped very gladly, being a racing pony.
Your father tried riding too for the first time and got along quite well sitting sideways in the Mexican saddle. 
We climbed some of the hills & led the horses down where it was too stony & steep.

The next day I drove the Sternes over to the CaƱon, fifteen miles from here, in the Ford.
