The old men sang & roared like the wind & shook [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] ^[[a]] tall pole with long red feathers over the danceres They danced all the afternoon in the hot sun. When some of them rested they ran to a Mexican booth, set up in the Pueblo for their great feast day, and bought an ice cream cone or a piece of water melon. The men that are clouns or "fun maker's" have to dance the most & the hardest. They are nearly naked & painted whitish with black spots & black faces and a bunch of dry corn husks standing on top of their heads. I am sending you a card of the dance. After you are through with it will you send it to your father in the envelope enclosed? I hope you will see Aunt Fanny or your father soon. I must go to work now. Love from Mother.
