Ryders Entertain At Cocktail Party

One of the gayest and most enjoyable cocktail parties of the winter season was given by the American Army Attache and Mrs. William Thomas Ryder Monday evening at their spacious residence in Kami Meguro.

The Ryders are delightful hosts, and from their vast numbers of acquaintances and friends they gathered together from the Japanese and Foreign communities a most social group of guests who were the Australian Ambassador and Mrs. Edward Ronald Walker, the Chinese Ambassador and Mrs. Hollington Tong, the American Ambassador and Mrs. John Allison, the American Minister and Mrs. J. Graham Parsons, Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Halford, Mr. and Mrs. H. Vere Redman, Mr. and Mrs. Giulio Terruzzi, Colonel and Mrs. N. K. Chatterji, Captain and Mrs. William C. Norvell, Colonel and Mrs. Chao-Lin Tien, Commander and Mrs. L. Lamour, Lt. Colonel and Mrs. William Larsen, Major and Mrs. Bernard Lefeuvre and Mrs. George Morgan of the Foreign Diplomatic Corps.

From the Japanese Community: Mrs. Katsuo Okazaki, Mrs. Takakichi Aso, Mr. and Mrs. Akira Matsui, Mr. and Mrs. Ichiro Kawasaki, Mr. Takeshi Yasukawa, Mr. and Mrs. Morio Yukawa, Mr. and Mrs. Yukichi Sekine, Mr. and Mrs. Yasuhiro Goh, Mr. Tsuneo Harada, Mr. and Mrs. Ichiro Inumaru, Mr. Yoshimi Uyeda, Mr. Fujiro Uyeda, Mr. and Mrs. M. The American Community was represented by: Mr. and Mrs. George Folster, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Simmons, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Walker, Mr. and Mrs. Keyes Beech, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Shaver, Major General and Mrs. E. Rogers, Mr. and Mrs. Frank (Lefty) O'Doul, so well-known to baseball fans of Japan, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Aurell, Mr. and Mrs. Seymour Janow, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Rees, Brig. General and Mrs. B. O. Davis, Jr. (Mrs. Davis is a newcomer to Tokyo who is captivating those she meets with her beauty and gracious, quiet manner), Mrs. James Tipton, Mrs. Antonin Raymond, minus her husband who has been confined with a cold, Colonel and Mrs. Clyde Cole and Mr. Rene Lehmann.

Adding sparkle to an already gay evening was the presence of the Paul Szilard Ballet Troupe including Mr. Paul Szilard, Mr. Jacque Bazire and his wife, Miss Colette Marchand, Miss Maria Angelica, Mr. Milorad Miskovitch, Mr. Michael Lland, Mr. Stuart Fleming, Mr. Victor Reilley, a fascinating descendant of the Irishman who dropped the "O" from the family name, Miss Janet Miller, Miss Barbara Ann Grey and Miss Rochelle Balzer.
