Dear General Davis,

I am sorry that you will leave us soon. All your friends in the Chinese armed forces will miss you and will recall with gratitude the invaluable assistance which you have given us during your tour of duty here. You have really done a great deal to help maintain this island as a bastion of freedom in the Western Pacific. I wish to avail myself of this opportunity to add my personal appreciation and admiration to what must be coming to you from a host of your other friends. I want you to accept my best wishes for continuous success in your career and bon voyage to you and your family.

Cordially yours,
