Brig.-Gen. Benjamin O. Davis, Jr.,
Commander,
13th Air Task Force Provisional,
Taipei.

Dear General Davis:

On the eve of your departure for the United States I am sending you and Mrs. Davis herewith a pair of embroidered cushion covers which I hope you will kindly accept as a gift from me as well as a souvenir of your stay in Taiwan.

I should also like to avail myself of this opportunity to express to you on behalf of the Provincial Government and the people of this island my hearty thanks for the valuable assistance you have given us during your tour of duty here. Please rest assured that your warm friendship for the Chinese people and the great contributions you have made to the defense of Taiwan have always been deeply appreciated not only by the people on this island but by all freedom-loving Chinese, wherever they may be.

With best wishes to you and Mrs. Davis for a happy journey [[?]] in which my wife heartily joins.
