Mrs. Bonnée - Natural American type of wealthy girl in good society. Not blue blood. Preferable to it because more natural. Unsensative, trivial in taste but sincere and individual. Consequently attractive.

Miss Patten - Large in observation and understanding, with an appreciation of humor that amounts to an artistic power. Aspiration of something beyond the ordinary as shown in her music which is brilliant in some ways. Very interesting.

Myself - abnormal and badly balanced - with an instinct for understanding the inwardness of people & things, but no power to cristalize my observations.

Socially absurd - Am too personal & slow of ideas to take part in any conversations

Sketched in the morning on the Bacon willows. Paul woke me up at 4 o'clock and I sent him down indignantly.

Jessie & I called on Old Lady Bacon last evening and she struck me as a very interesting person. She told about how beautiful the place was when she & her husband came long ago to live there, when the pond was a meadow bounded by the canal and planted in long rows of fruit - and sugar maple trees.
