The clergiman from Trinity I think stood in the little hall between the 2 reception rooms up 1 flight, just where Elyza always read to us, in the reading Club - shooing us into the 2 rooms in equal amounts when it would have been so much more graceful to sit in one group and she not isolated out in that hall!

It was a short and excellent service in the good tradition that would have suited Eliza.

Ruth Temple went with me & then returned and looked over the exhibition catalogue, for a few moments before going to Mrs. Ponds Reading Club meeting. We read Maurewar's? (how do you spell him) Journal - Interesting in spots - Full of fine names he had met Gide I remarked!
