Vice-Cmdr. Named For Taiwan, P.I. Air

By The Associated Press

Brig. Gen. Benjamin O. Davis yesterday was named vice commander of the 13th Air Force and commander of Air Task Force 13 on Taiwan.

The appointment was announced by Gen. Laurence S. Kuter, commander of Far East Air Forces in Tokyo, where Davis has been Director of Operations and Training.

The 13th Air Force this week had its responsibility expanded to include aerial defense of Taiwan as well as the Philippines. And it was switched from control of Far East Air Forces to Pacific Air Force Headquarters, Hawaii.

Davis, commander of the famed 51st Fighter Interceptor Wing for part of the Korean War, replaces Col. Wilson H. Banks, who recently left his Philippine Headquarters for the United States.
