Smithsonian Home Video Collection

The Kodak Corporation, funder of the Smithsonian Video Collection, announced that it was selling it's Home Video Division to Wood Knapp Video. Wood Knapp is a new, small video production and distribution company with a loose affiliation with Knapp Publishing, publisher of [[underlined]] Architectural Digest [[/underlined]] and [[underlined]] Bon Appetit [[/underlined]]. Wood Knapp has expressed a strong desire to continue funding production of the Smithsonian Collection under terms and conditions similar to those contained in our agreement with Kodak. Discussions are under way.

Review of the recently released programs have been uniformly favorable. The subjects of the series include the collections of the National Zoo, Natural History, National Air and Space Museum, and the American History Museum.

[[underlined]] EXECUTIVE SESSION [[/underlined]]

At the invitation of the Regents, the Secretary joined in an executive session of the Board's meeting. The purpose of the discussion centered around matters of organization and management. No formal record has been kept of this portion of the meeting.

[[underlined]] ADJOURNMENT [[/underlined]]

The meeting of the Board of Regents was adjourned at approximately 11:15 a.m. and was followed by a luncheon with the Secretary, his management staff, and members of the Board of Trustees of the National Museum of the American Indian.

[[underlined]] REGENTS' DINNER [[/underlined]]

The traditional Regent's Dinner was held on the preceding evening, January 28, 1990, in the Rotunda of the Arts and Industries Building. As the Regents and their guests were seated, the Chancellor welcomed everyone on behalf of the Board of Regents and introduced the Secretary. Mr. Adams expressed pleasure at the number of prospective members of the Board of Trustees of the National Museum of the American Indian who were present.
