ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

The Chancellor welcomed Congressman McDade to his first meeting as a member of the Board of Regents. He also acknowledged the presence of Mr. Schermer as the Chairman-designate of the Smithsonian National Board and thanked Mrs. Wray for the fine service she had rendered to the Regents and the National Board as Chair of that Board for the last three years.

CONSIDERATION OF THE PROPOSED CONSENT AND INFORMATION AGENDA

The Chancellor directed the Regents' attention to the materials which had been circulated in advance of this meeting under the heading of the "Proposed Consent and Information Agenda" (those given below through page 47) and invited comments from those present. Reference is made below, under the item "Summary of Developments Relating to the Museum of the American Indian," to one clarification.

MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF MAY 6, 1991

VOTED that the Board of Regents approves the Minutes of the meeting of May 6, 1991, as previously circulated on May 29, 1991.

Draft minutes of the May 6, 1991 meeting of the Board of Regents were forwarded to members of the Board of Regents, the chairmen and ranking minority members of cognizant committees in the Congress, and the Director of the Office of Management and Budget on May 29, 1991. As no changes to the draft have been proposed, the following motion is suggested:

VOTED That the Board of Regents approves the Minutes of the meeting of May 6, 1991, as previously circulated on May 29, 1991.
