[[underlined]] WHITE BLUFF [[/underlined]]

[[margin]] [[red dot]] [[/margin]] [[underlined]] 65 [[/underlined]]. The dazzling white bluffs which overhang the Vernon River eight miles from Savannah gave this estate its name. Here colonists came as early as 1759.

^[[ ( ]] The original house and gardens are supposed to have been built in 1799 by Robert Bolton, the great-great-great-grandfather of the present owners. ^[[ ) ]]

There is an evergreen garden where all the typical southern flowers luxuriate - crepe myrtle, oleander, camellias and magnolias. But the great [[underlined]] oaks [[/underlined]] are the glory of the place. One with a trunk [[underlined]] 24 [[/underlined]] ft. in circumference, with spreading branches draped in moss, flings its shade across the wide, smooth lawn, its branches extending [[underlined]] 145 [[/underlined]] ft.
