Boosters Seek 1911 Postmaster

By Staff Correspondent

PETALUMA — Does anyone know the whereabouts of H. L. Tripp, who was Santa Rosa postmaster in 1911, or any of his relatives? If so write to East Petaluma Boosters Club, 15 Avery Way, Petaluma, or phone the secretary, Mrs. Edith Henrichsen at Petaluma 2-486.

The request is made in connection with the Fred Wiseman project on which the club is still working to obtain more authentic data relative to the flying of an airmail letter by Fred Wiseman from Kenilworth Park to Santa Rosa on Feb. 17, 1911.

This letter is claimed by the Smithsonian Institute at Washington to be one of the first airmail letters flown in airmail history.

In order to receive national recognition of this flight for a commemorative stamp from Washington, it is necessary to submit the letter and envelope, officially stamped, in which it was enclosed.
