KNIGHT OF THE ROAD AT NOVELTY TONIGHT

"Knight of the Road" (Biograph). A story of a typical hobo. He performs a service which has secured him the offer of a permanent situation. But, like all of his class, the call of the road is too strong and he returns to his wanderings, content to be one of the knights who stray as they list, without home or occupation. This is one of the Biograph character pictures, which always appeal to an audience.

"Jack Masons' Last Deal" (Melies). This is the story of gambling in the west, and the regeneration of a professional gambler through the influence of a girl.

"The Traitor." We have here an Italian story of smugglers and smuggling with marvelous marine scenery in a beautiful tint. There are also scenes showing interesting rocky shores. This picture not only has an excellent plot, but the scenery and photography deserve especial commendation.

"Rubber Neck Percy." A short and snappy comedy, showing the inquisitiveness of Percy and his propensity for investigation which leads him into all sorts of painful experiences.

"The Stars and Stripes and You" will be sung by Miss Ruth Haley.

OUT OF TOWN ATTRACTIONS ON THE NATION'S BIRTHDAY

The people of Sna Luis Obispo have their choice of five celebrations in this immediate vicinity, at which to help commemorate the nation's birthday tomorrow, as there will be observances of the day in San Miguel, Paso Robles, Santa Maria, Pizmo and Santa Barbara. Nearly everyone has made up his or her mind as to how to spend the Fourth, but for those who have not yet decided whether to stay quietly at home or to take a trip out of town, the following outline of what's doing in the way of making the eagle scream may be given:

At San Miguel there will be a big barbecue, games, band music, races, fireworks, and an oration by Attorney A. E. Campbell of this city.

At Paso Robles there will be literary exercises with Hon. J. V. Webster as orator of the day, barbecue consisting of five beeves, games, races, harness racing, broncho-busting, a grand ball, fireworks and plug-ugly parade.

At El Pizmo beach the main attraction will be the flights of Aviator Fred Wiseman, with music by the San Luis Military band, an oration by Warren M. John, and dancing.

In Santa Maria there will be three military bands, a street parade, literary exercises, basket picnic, dancing, daylight fireworks and a baseball game, featuring Willetts of Vernon for Ventura and Emerson of San Jose for Santa Maria.

In Santa Barbara there will be a parade, games, music, dancing, etc., and a big aviation meet.

Excursion rates prevail over all railroads, and can be found by consulting the advertising columns of this paper.

The Daily Telegram hopes that all subscribers will find a free vent for their patriotism and spend a Glorious Fourth.
