[[underlined]] Enroute [[/underlined]] Dec. 29, 1937

Awoke just before sunrise at Gila, Arizona (used to be Gila Bend) and watched the sun light up the peaks and creap down the slopes and canyons to the valley floor and make long shadows of the giant cactus, palo verde creosote and other well spaced desert vegetation.

A perfect, clear, mild desert morning with soft rich colors and depth of light and shade.

It has been a mild winter for the cottonwoods still hold their golden leaves and even the mesquites are still leafy.

Transcription Notes:
All else checks out except the [[??]] I also saw "paleonde" in the possibly palarde word - I'm really not sure what it is. - GigglePop I think it's palo verde -@siobhanleachman
