[[underlined]] July 5 [[/underlined]], The Caves

Ligon returned to Carlsbad and Wendell Chapman and I went up the west fork of Slaughter Canyon about a mile, then turned up steep south slope to the old Bighorn Canyon where the white throated swifts are about 700 feet up, about half way to top.

Found the swifts still there, about 200 of them nesting in a crack of the roof 40 feet overhead in the big room.

About a ton of swift quano had accumulated since I was there 13 years ago.
